I am homesick. Not that things havent been amazing, but I just miss my friends and family. Its a good thing that my only time to REALLY think about it is at night, and then Im tired so it doesnt last long before I sleep.
I got into a cake frosting fight today at the San Buena church 3 yr anniversary with about 50 kids....I lost....hard. But it was fun.
Cynthia just told me that we havent explained about our last day at the birthing clinic/baby home. We spent a lot of time in the clinic. We sat through a class, and then helped do pregnancy checkups!!! Yay!!! It was amazingggggggg. We used monitors to find the baby heartbeats and count them, then we poked around to figure out how the baby was positioned. It never ceases to amaze me how welcoming Filipinos are. Here we are...3 white girls who have never done anything like that, poking their babies and stuff, never to see these women again, and they just let us. I dont know if I would be that nice. It was amazing amazing amazing. I would love to be involved with pre-natal care somehow in my future. Yes please.
P.S. Filipino kids are NUTS.

Hi Katie!
ReplyDeleteWould I love to spend more time hearing about Katie’s perspective? YES please!
You are right; we Americans would not be as friendly to have strangers poking at our bellies measuring the little tater-tot’s progress. We are quite self-absorbed at times. And I think working in this area would be wonderful for you if you feel a passion for it.
Missing Family is bitter-sweet. You miss them, yet appreciate them so much more when you experience separation from them. Can you imagine hell? That is the total absence from God…..can you say EEEWWWEEE! Gives me the creepy willies just thinking about it. Thank you, God for NEVER abandoning us…ever!
Katie~ you are such a love bug…. I have enjoyed reading your blog.
Love you!
